Installation

Difficulty: Beginner · You need: your Cfx.re account, the server files and server.cfg

  1. Download it from the Cfx.re Portal

After you buy it, sign in at portal.cfx.re with the same Cfx.re account and download it from Granted assets.

The server must use a license key made with that same account. If it doesn't, the console shows You lack the required entitlement and the pack doesn't start. See Asset Escrow & Clothing.

  2. Copy the folder

Put the zaiders_tattoos folder in your resources folder. A category folder such as resources/[zaiders]/ works too.

  3. Add it to server.cfg

    ini
    set onesync on
    ensure zaiders_tattoos

OneSync on (not legacy, not off) is needed for other players to see the pack's tattoos: the game doesn't send them, and the pack's sync uses player state bags, which FiveM only sends with OneSync on. txAdmin sets it in its own settings. The console warns when it isn't on.

With ZAIDERS Appearance the ensure can go anywhere: it finds the pack whether it starts before or after it. With another tattoo script, put it after that script.

If you had another resource with these same designs (an older copy of this pack), remove its ensure. Both at once would show every design twice.

  4. Set it up for your tattoo script

With ZAIDERS Appearance there's nothing to do. With another script, follow Your tattoo script.

For the installer to write the lists into that script, FXServer needs one line per script in server.cfg, before ensure zaiders_tattoos, and a server restart (it reads them only while the server starts):

    ini
    add_filesystem_permission zaiders_tattoos write rcore_tattoos

The last word is the script's folder name. Without the line nothing breaks: the console prints it, and the ready-made file goes into zaiders_tattoos/install/ for you to copy by hand.

  5. Restart the server and look at the console

The pack says which tattoo script it found and whether it's ready, for example:

    text
[zaiders_tattoos] ZAIDERS Appearance: ready (its tattoo shop reads this pack by itself)

The console messages follow Config.Language, which comes in English: setr zaiders_tattoos_language es in server.cfg switches them, and the designs' names, to Spanish. With pt, fr or de only the designs' names change: the console speaks only English or Spanish.

  6. Check it in the game

Players must reconnect after the pack is added, because the game only loads new tattoos when it joins. Open your tattoo shop: the designs are there, by zone, with their names. In ZAIDERS Appearance they show with ZAIDERS as the pack, and From packs shows only addon designs.

If ZAIDERS Appearance says the game does not have collection zaiders_overlays in F8, you have version 1.0.0: see Updating.

Language

The designs' names follow Config.Language: en (the default), es, pt, fr or de. Every design has its name in all five. It's one language for every player: the pack registers the names in the game, so the language each player picks in ZAIDERS Appearance doesn't change them. The console messages are only in English or Spanish.

The lists for other tattoo scripts follow Config.ListsLanguage: en (the default) or es. See Configuration.

Updating

Download the new version from the Cfx.re Portal, replace the zaiders_tattoos folder keeping your config.lua, and restart the server. Players reconnect to get the new designs.

To see which version you have, look at the version line in fxmanifest.lua. 1.0.1 also ends data/zaiders_overlays.xml with <nameHash>zaiders_overlays</nameHash>.

A new version never renames a design, a preset or a label. Saved tattoos, data/renamed.json and the lists installed in other tattoo scripts keep working, with nothing to reinstall. New designs take the next number of their zone and go at the end of the lists, esx_tattooshop's too. When a version brings a newer list, zaiders_tattoos_install updates the one it installed in your script.

From 1.0.0 to 1.0.1

1.0.0's data/zaiders_overlays.xml had no collection name: the <nameHash>zaiders_overlays</nameHash> line after </presets>. The game loaded the file but couldn't put any design on, and ZAIDERS Appearance left them out of its shop (F8: the game does not have collection zaiders_overlays). 1.0.1 adds that line.

Only data/zaiders_overlays.xml and fxmanifest.lua changed (besides README.md and LEEME.md), so copying those two over yours is enough, and a 1.0.0 config.lua works as it is. Restart the server, and players reconnect.
