Common Myths & Bad Fixes
These are the answers that waste a day. Read the card, then stop doing that.
Difficulty: Easy · Affects: both
WARNING
“Just clear cache”
Does not add YMT slots. Does not reduce YTD count. Default folder (custom installs differ): %localappdata%\FiveM\FiveM.app\data\cache.
When it can matter: one player has a truncated YDD or never finished a download. Verify the server file first. Wiping cache for everyone is last resort. Do not tell customers to delete the entire FiveM folder.
When it cannot: everyone crashes on freemode spawn (YMT), log says TxdStore Pool Full, entitlement error, IDs shifted after DLC.
WARNING
“Increase texture budget” / max TxdStore
TxdStore is dictionary slots, not a Photoshop budget. Maxing pools has crashed servers on other pools (#3329).
WARNING
“Reduce every texture to 512”
May help FPS. Will not fix YMT exhaustion. May wreck hero art. Skin-toned pieces already want 512.
WARNING
“Put all packs in one folder”
Does not merge YMTs. You still load every .ymt inside.
WARNING
“Higher game build is always better”
Usually fewer free clothing slots.
WARNING
“If the new pack caused the crash, the pack is broken”
Often the server was already at 99% of a shared budget (YMT or TxdStore). The last ensure is not automatically the corrupt file. Disable all clothing; if the crash remains, it is not primarily this pack. If it disappears, isolate which pack — then count YMTs and YTDs.
WARNING
“increase_pool_size YmtLimit”
Does not exist. #2938 is still a request.
WARNING
“Delete creaturemetadata, keep heels”
You cannot.
WARNING
“256 drawables everywhere now”
Component sync on patched FiveM. Not props. Not old clients. Not a YMT slot gift.
WARNING
“Escrow adds 40%”
Not officially documented. Record five size measurements; do not quote a percentage.
WARNING
“Enhanced uses the same server.cfg as Legacy”
Escrow missing, moo gone, latest DLC only, Alchemist required.
